About this event:
Preschoolers are invited to make crafts inspired by or using nature. We will explore salt painting, printmaking, wet felting and papermaking. Participants will need an adult to help them and clothes that can get messy. All other materials will be provided.
Week 1) Salt Painting and Tie Dye Paper - Use eye droppers of watercolor to create raised salt paintings. Learn about salt's ability to absorb moisture from the environment and color mixing. Participants can also create a piece of tie dye paper using the same materials if time allows.
Week 2) Printing Leaves, Fruits and Vegetables Using Gelatin Plates - Create monoprints on paper by using cut pieces of fruits or vegetables as stamps and fall leaves on the surface of gelatin plates.
Week 3) Wet Felted Wool Flowers - Learn about the wet felting process and make a small felted flower.
Week 4) Papermaking - Learn about recycling by taking used pieces of paper and creating a beautiful new piece to draw or write on.
