I've been really into the biography The Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York by Robert A. Caro. Robert Moses was an urban planner and public official in NYC that shaped the landscape of NYC, particularly in public infrastructure such as expressways/highways, parks, etc. He quite literally shaped and envisioned what NYC looks like today, but of course, all of his projects were not done without displacing hundreds of thousands of people. It was published about 50 years ago, and it is also very long. The Power Broker is also available on Libby

We just watched Mutiny on the Bounty starring Marlon Brando, Trevor Howard, and Richard Harris (among others). This was a beautifully made film. Every shot could have been a painting. It’s a great opportunity to see a young Brando – very different from his best-known work in A Streetcar Named Desire and The Godfather – and a young Richard Harris, who many people only know as Dumbledore. Overall, it was wonderful! Mutiny on the Bounty is available on Hoopla
Also I’ve been watching Kevin Can F**k Himself starring Annie Murphy and Mary Hollis Inboden (among others). Annie Murphy is best known for playing Alexis in Schitz Creek and it took a while for me to adjust to seeing her as another character, but she’s wonderful and Mary Hollis Inboden is so unique and authentic that she helps pull it all together. I’ve settled in and am really starting to get into it. I want to know what happens!! Kevin Can F**k Himself is also available on Hoopla
I Am NOT Santa Claus by T.L. McBeth We’re getting closer to the Christmas holiday, and it feels too early for me, but we’ve got to be prepared here at TCPL and really the guy is not Santa Claus so I suppose it’s okay. This was a silly picture book that’s sure to be a hit with kiddos. This is available at TCPL

Your Pal Fred by Michael Rex Fred is a small robot with big goggles and an even bigger heart. But can Fred's friendliness be enough to bring peace to a post-apocalyptic wasteland torn apart by two selfish warlords? Great for kids who love graphic novels like Hilo and CatStronauts, Your Pal Fred is full of humor and heart.

I have had Orville Peck's latest album Stampede pretty much on repeat since seeing him live in October. It's such a great album full of duets with everyone from Willie Nelson to Kylie Minogue. There really is a song for everyone on this album. Stampede is available on Hoopla
The Sacrifice of Darkness by Roxane Gay and Tracy Lynne Oliver, Illustrated by Rebecca Kirby Based on a short story by Roxane Gay, this coming of age story set in the aftermath of the apocalypse is equally beautiful and devastating. I think that might be Gay's specialty. The Sacrifice of Darkness is available on Libby & Hoopla
