Program Description

About this event:

Today's Chinese calligraphy event with the Johnson Museum has been postponed due to impending bad weather. We have rescheduled it for NEXT Wednesday, September 22, from 3:30-5 pm along the Creek Walk!

Children of all ages and their families are invited to a drop-in outdoor art workshop at TCPL with Carol Hockett, Andrea Murray, and Elizabeth Yearsley from the Johnson Museum of Art. Make your own unique work of art inspired by the Johnson's collection from around the world!

For this session, we'll create works of art inspired by Chinese calligraphy. We'll grind and mix our own ink, learn to hold calligraphy brushes, and practice writing special characters. We'll also have huge paintbrushes for experimenting with sidewalk painting!

Feel free to bring your own blankets or cushions for sitting on. Program is weather dependent and won't proceed in heavy rain or strong wind.
