Program Description
About this event:
Hosted by Tompkins County Public Library and The History Center in Tompkins County, this third meeting of the Tompkins County Genealogy Society continues the goals of building and supporting a network and making genealogy resources discoverable. This meeting will be held at TCPL, BorgWarner Community Room West on December 12, at 6:00 PM.
The program will include a presentation by Alan Chaffee, Town of Newfield Historian, and an expert on our local cemeteries. His talk is entitled, “Cemeteries and Burial Practices of the Past 200 Years.” There will also be a brief update regarding the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society. This will be followed by an open discussion session. The Tompkins County Genealogy Society provides a local network for citizens, highlighting local genealogy resources, assisting in learning more about researching family history, and encouraging participation of community members of all backgrounds. Future topics will cover DNA and genealogy, census information, county records and sister genealogy societies.
