Program Description
About this event:
Join us for an exhibit opening on Friday, July 1! Artist Sherri Porter will be in attendance. Her work includes portraits of famous and historical figures as well as loved ones, rendered with crayon on brown paper.
Sherri's artist statement:
I grew up in Ithaca - IHS class of ‘82. From childhood I have always loved to color with crayons and to paint with an oversized shirt as a smock. I’m inspired by vibrant colors, facial expressions, and the way shadows fall from different angles. I love people and their stories, hugs, rich coffee, hearty meals and teaching all kinds of mathematics. I have worked as an educator for almost 30 years!
My greatest gift is connecting with people - my heart continues to stretch and make room for another resident. I believe this talent in art is from God. I feel a tingling sensation in my fingers when I begin to create. I am thankful.
The exhibit will run from July 1 through the end of August.
