About this event:
Celebrate Earth Week with a reading, conversation and signing with the authors Ricky Baruch and Deb Habib as they make a special visit to Ithaca. Making Love While Farming: A Field Guide to a Life of Passion and Purpose has been described in reviews as equal parts memoir, inspiration and handbook. Rooted in the authors’ three decades of experience as farmers, educators, and community organizers, the stories within affirm the possibility and necessity of lives and livelihoods that respond to environmental and social justice issues with creativity, love, and balance. Published by worker-owned Levellers Press, Amherst MA, 2019.
Authors Ricky Baruch and Deb Habib run Seeds of Solidarity Farm and Education Center in Orange MA (Ricky previously owned Jasper’s Farm in Interlaken NY). Their solar-powered family farm uses all no-till, regenerative methods. The non-profit wing innovates programs that awaken the power among people of all ages--from toddlers to teens to people who are incarcerated-- to Grow Food Everywhere to transform hunger to health, and create resilient lives and communities. They are co-founders of the North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival that attracts 8,000 people and produces only 2 bags of trash.
This event is free and open to the public.
