Program Description

About this event:

In this bonus meeting of our Award Winners Book Club we will be meeting at the Johnson Art Museum to tour the exhibit - Storywork: The Prints of Marie Watt. Our tour will be lead by Carol Hockett of the Johnson Art Museum. Marie Watt is a story teller and a member of the Seneca Nation (one of six that comprise the Haudenosaunee Confederacy) with German-Scots ancestry. Her stories draw from Native and non-Native traditions.

Register and receive a free copy of the book Peacemaker by Joseph Bruchac. Peacemaker is the story of a twelve-year-old Haudenosaunee boy who searches for peace in this historical novel based on the creation of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.

For this book club we will be meeting at the Johnson Art Museum and participants will be responsible to provide their own transportation. Parents are welcome to stay for the tour. We will meet in the museum atrium at 1:30pm, and will be finished by 2:30. Please feel free to reach out to Alice Ball - aball@tcpl.org - with any questions!
