ESL Snack & Chat

Informal Weekly Conversation Groups

ESL Snack and Chat

Free, drop-in sessions to help non-English speaking residents and visitors meet their personal goals through English conversation and language exercises in small groups.

We have a blog for ESL at ESL@TCPL. We will post announcements, news about books, events and other help here at the library for English as a Second Language Learners.

NEWESL at TCPL is on Facebook! Like us at www.facebook.com/tcpl.esl!

The last session of ESL Snack & Chat was April 10, 2013. We will be off for a while but please check back for dates when the program will resume.

Goals of these meetings:

  1. To offer a relaxed setting to converse in English and gain comfort in speaking and oral communication
  2. To help participants seek and find resources at the Library and in  the community
  3. To share information about the Tompkins County Public Library, Ithaca and surrounding community which will enrich the language and cultural experiences of participants.

These meetings will be informal. There is no homework or assignments. We hope that you will present ideas that will be valuable to the group as well. If you can't come, that is O.K. Come when you can!

If you feel that you need any assistance with your speaking or understanding of English, then please join us!  If you would simply like to get involved but already have good English language skills, please feel welcome to join as well.

The Library will provide light refreshments. All ages are welcome!

Registration is NOT required. Drop in and talk a while.

If you are a native English speaker, please contact Tonya Curran at tcurran@tcpl.org for more information on volunteer opportunities. Orientation is required to volunteer for this program.

This is a Library-sponsored program.
