Ithaca Doll Artists' Exhibit

Take a Look…Inside a Book!

An exhibit featuring a collection of characters in children’s literature
Presented by The Ithaca Doll Artists
July 5 – August 28, 2011
Avenue of the Friends

Hedwig and Dobbie the House Elfe from Harry Potter, Old Mother Hubbard and Aladdin are among the enchanting fictional characters to be found on display at the Tompkins County Public Library during July and August as a result of this year’s art challenge project for the Ithaca Doll Artists (IDA). All the figurative sculptures of “art dolls” in the show are handcrafted and original, conveying each artist’s interpretation of a character from a children’s storybook, poem or nursery rhyme.

The membership of the IDA, a creative New York base organization, includes figurative sculptors, fiber artists, quilters, art teachers and painters as well as members who are new to the art doll field.

The Ithaca Doll Artists are offering two Art Doll Workshops featuring “Bendi Dolls” during August.
