Art and the Librarian, an exhibit featuring creative works from the Tompkins County Public Library community will be on display through May 2009. Curated by Senior Library Clerk Beth Killheffer, Art and the Librarian is an eclectic, multi-media exhibit highlighting the talents of many members of the Library family.
An opening reception will be held Thursday, April 16, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the Library's BorgWarner Community Room and will provide an opportunity for guests to meet the artists and view the exhibit. The reception is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
Pages, trustees, librarians and facilities staff members are among those who contributed art to the exhibit. Killheffer credited the exhibit with showing that there is more to the average librarian than a love of books. "This exhibit shows how abundantly talented and multi-faceted library staff are," Killheffer said.
Art and the Librarian is the second exhibit in the Library's series, A Year of Art at Your Library 2009, and is sponsored in part by the Tompkins County Public Library Foundation through a grant from the Community Arts Partnership.
